Overview
The Big Woods neighborhood is made up from properties that access Gallup Road, either directly or via side roads that connect to Gallup Road. Gallup Road is a private road maintained by the property owners. The boundaries of the neighborhood are defined by the properties of landowners who are responsible for Gallup Road maintenance.
The maintenance of the road is governed by a road maintenance policy and by Chatham County Subdivision regulations. The neighborhood elects two Gallup Road Maintenance Association volunteer officers who work with a volunteer road maintenance committee to make decisions about maintenance and collect assessments. See the Big Woods Documents page for details about road assessments, transfer fees, and for links to Big Woods documents. The Big Woods neighborhood does not have a homeowners association. Most properties are restricted by a set of documents (see Big Woods Documents). The restrictions are enforced, if necessary, through civil suit by one or more neighbors. No governing body exists for the enforcement of property restrictions. |
